Launch and funding
announcement videos

The film that goes out on the day you launch a product or announce a round, and the cuts that keep it traveling for the week after.

A 20-minute video call. We tell you what to make and how long it takes, then send a quote.

The short answer

We make product launch films and funding announcement videos for startups in San Francisco and around the world, planned backwards from your announcement date. The film is built around one sentence about why this matters now, runs under 90 seconds, and ships with versions for X, LinkedIn and YouTube.

Recent launch work includes eight films for the opening of StudioK's founder residency and a launch ad for Amazon SmartBiz. Tell us your date first. Everything else is planned from it.

Why most funding videos go unwatched

We looked at funding announcement videos on YouTube before writing this page. Most sit under 5,000 views: PlexTrac's $70M Series B video has 151, Temporal's Series B video 1,992, and Airbound's $37M film 817. In Airbound's case, AIM Network's news clip about the same round reached about 3,600 views, more than four times the company's own film.

The ones that travel have a real idea, like Firebolt's Series B video with boxing announcer Bruce Buffer (38,691 views), the product doing real work, like Figure's Series C film of its robots (84,125 views, with a like rate near 5%), or a paid budget behind them. So we plan two things together: the film, and where it will be seen in the first 72 hours. Our funding announcement examples guide has the full set.

What a launch week needs

  • The hero film, 45 to 90 seconds, for the website, YouTube and the founder's post.
  • Three cutdowns for X and LinkedIn, each built around a different line, captioned for people watching on mute.
  • A founder clip of 20 to 40 seconds, because people share a person before a logo.
  • Press B-roll, so the reporter with your exclusive, and everyone who follows, uses your footage instead of stock.
  • A launch-day cut for Product Hunt or YC's launch page, when you are launching a product rather than a round.

Planning backwards from the date

A launch film needs about three to four weeks, and most of that is script and approvals. If your announcement is under embargo, we are happy to sign an NDA before the first call, and the work stays off every public channel until the day. If the date moves, the plan moves with it. We take projects from founders in San Francisco and across the US and work remotely, with reviews on calls in your time zone.

How it runs

Three to four weeks, start to launch

Phase 01The line

We agree the one sentence the launch has to land, before anything else.

Phase 02Script and storyboard

You see the film on paper first, with the cutdowns planned in.

Phase 03Make

Shoot, animation or both, depending on what you are launching.

Phase 04Launch day

Masters, cutdowns, captions and B-roll delivered before the embargo lifts.

Questions people ask

How long should a funding announcement video be?

Under 90 seconds for the hero film, and 20 to 40 seconds for the cuts. Most viewers decide in the first three seconds.

How far ahead of the announcement should we start?

Three to four weeks is comfortable. Two is possible if the story is clear and approvals are fast.

Can you keep it confidential?

Yes. We are happy to sign an NDA before we see anything, and nothing goes on our channels until you announce.

Should the founder be on camera?

Usually yes for a funding film, because investors and hires want to see the person. Product launches can work without anyone on screen.

Do you work with startups in San Francisco?

Yes. We take projects from founders in San Francisco and across the US and work remotely, with reviews on calls in your time zone and the launch planned for Pacific time.

Do you help with distribution?

Yes. We plan where the film is seen in the first 72 hours and can run creator and seeding work through our distribution team.
